Our Charter Check-In Process
Our Charter Check-In Process
At Most Sailing, the check-in process is crucial to ensure a successful and enjoyable experience for the client. It involves a series of essential steps that must be completed before the charterer can set sail on our fleet. Our latest blog post explored our collaboration with Floatist and how we use their app to make this process smoother.
In this blog, we cover the importance of having an in-depth check-in process.
The charter experience
We want to ensure the charter experience is seamless for our clients from the beginning until the end of their charter. Next to Floatist app, which we use during the actual check-in on the arrival date, we send detailed check-in videos to our clients before their arrival. This way, they can familiarise themselves with the boats they rented, and it also gets them in the holiday mood.
What does a check-in process include?
- Yacht Inspection: Firstly, the check-in process ensures the yacht in our fleet is delivered to the client in good condition. A detailed inspection provides a boat that is ready for chartering, with necessary repairs and maintenance carried out.
- Inventory Check: The check-in process also confirms all appliances, equipment, and furnishings are on board. A thorough inventory inspection is extremely important for the safety, comfort and security of our clients during their holiday.
- Orientation & Briefing: The process provides our clients with important information about the yacht and the charter experience. The video we send in advance provides all information they need to know before and during their sailing holiday. It covers the operation of all the equipment, electronics and security items, as well as safety procedures. The videos are available on our YouTube channel for anyone who sails with the same yacht models.
- Regulations: The check-in process also ensures that all necessary permits and licenses are in order. We check that the charterer has all the required documentation to operate the yacht legally. We also make sure that the boat has all the correct paperwork and permits for the journey.
How do we make it easier?
We know that most clients are excited to arrive at a marina and want to sail off into the sunset immediately; they also don’t want to spend much time and effort going through an arduous check-in process. However, we also know that a check-in process is vital and can save problems along the way, so we create these check-in videos to send to our clients before their arrival.
These videos give our charterers a visual point of reference for operating the yacht. They act as an extensive and boat-specific instruction manual, showcasing individual elements of how the boat works and where to find things. It also highlights things to watch out for that are boat-specific. The videos are an excellent tool for our clients as they set them up perfectly before the charter, and they can refer back at any point during their journey.
What do the videos cover?
- The navigational equipment and how to use it
- All the boat systems, how to run them efficiently, and make your stay onboard as comfortable as possible (e.g. air conditioning)
- The operation of the generator systems for power onboard
- How to operate the sails, the boom, ropes, and winches
- The galley systems, including the gas ventilation
- Location of equipment such as the water and waste tank valves, bow thruster fuses, and gas tank
- How to operate the toilet pump systems
- How to safely operate the anchor
- And more
